Alissa Coe

Alissa Coe creates sculptural installations as well as sculptural and functional objects for luxury residential and hospitality projects. She often works in collaboration with art consultants and interior designers to develop site-specific artworks. Alissa works primarily in porcelain and stoneware, with accents in complimentary materials like wood and metal. With a degree in industrial design she uses a design-minded, problem solving approach to her work. She is fascinated and driven by the possibilities and limitations of ceramics and how they inspire and guide new ideas. She aspires to express the essence of an idea through minimal form and detail. She is particularly inspired by forms and details in nature, both geometric and organic, and the relationship between the two. Alissa was born and spent her childhood in eastern Ontario, Canada. She moved to Toronto to study at OCAD University where her love of ceramics began. Her practice grew and evolved over the course of the following years and in 2018, with partner Matias Silva, she moved her studio to Piemonte, Italy. She lives and works surrounded by the forested hills of the Alta Langa, a beautiful, quiet place full of inspiration for the artwork she creates.
